Grand Theft Auto Online is the online multiplayer component of Grand Theft Auto V and is launched as a distinct game. Players create a new online character and build progression independently from the single‑player story. Because the online mode was designed separately, none of the in‑game achievements, money, or vehicles earned in single‑player carry over to the online world. Consequently, any progress you make in the single‑player campaign remains confined to that mode, and you must start from scratch when you join GTA Online.
