Can you import gta story saves to gta online?

Grand Theft Auto Online is the online multiplayer component of Grand Theft Auto V, released in 2013 for PS3 and Xbox 360 and later on other platforms. The game features its own progression system and does not reference any mechanism for importing single‑player story mode save files. Based on the official information available for GTA Online, players create separate characters for online play and progress independently of the single‑player storyline.
