Can gta online players access the story mode?

Grand Theft Auto V separates its single‑player story mode from its online multiplayer component. While both modes share the same world and many assets, the gameplay experiences are distinct. To play the story missions you must leave the online session and select the story mode from the main menu. This ensures that story missions run in a private, single‑player environment and are not affected by online players. Players who are in GTA Online cannot start or continue story missions directly from within the multiplayer interface. They can only access story content by exiting to the single‑player mode.
