Steve Purcell

Purcell first earned attention through his offbeat comics, especially Sam & Max, whose laconic detective duo combined deadpan dialogue with anarchic visual comedy. His sensibility also shaped the look and tone of several LucasArts adventure games, including entries in the Monkey Island series. This background in sequential art and interactive storytelling gave his animation work a strong emphasis on readable poses, economical jokes, and distinctive character personalities.

After joining Pixar, Purcell contributed as a story artist and creative collaborator on productions such as Ratatouille, WALL-E, Up, Brave, and The Good Dinosaur.
