The real Josh is discovered trapped and aging rapidly in the Further, where his father, now a seasoned astral traveler, must once again mount a rescue, racing to reunite Josh's true spirit with his body before the imposter's grip becomes permanent.

In Insidious: Chapter 3 (2015) and Insidious: The Last Key (2018), Josh appears in supporting roles as part of the Spectral Sightings paranormal team run by Elise Rainier, having matured into a courageous and dedicated ghost hunter. Though haunted by the residual trauma of his astral experiences, Josh embraces the gift that nearly cost him his life, using his unique ability to project and to sense spirit activity to help other families plagued by supernatural threats.
