Jimmy De Santa

Michael Townley, also known as Michael De Santa, is a former bank robber who entered the witness protection program after a botched heist in Ludendorff, North Dakota. Now living under the alias 'Kevin De Santa,' he resides in a luxurious mansion in the Rockford Hills district of Los Santos with his wife Amanda and their two children, Tracey and Jimmy. Michael struggles with the monotony of his new suburban life, often resorting to therapy sessions with Dr. Friedlander and engaging in yoga, golf, and tennis to cope with his lingering desire for the criminal underworld that defined his younger years. He is reluctantly pulled back into a life of crime when he encounters old partner-in-crime Trevor Philips, who believes Michael betrayed him during the Ludendorff heist years ago.

Amanda De Santa is Michael's materialistic and unfaithful wife, who constantly spends money on plastic surgery, yoga classes, shopping sprees, and an affair with her tennis coach. Her relationship with Michael is deeply strained, marked by frequent arguments, a brief stint at couple's therapy, and multiple separations. Amanda's obsession with status symbols and her inability to appreciate the life Michael's criminal past afforded her serves as a constant source of frustration. She represents the spoiled, vapid trophy wife archetype and her materialism often drives the plot, especially when she demands Michael buy her expensive things or when she racks up debts he must repay.

Tracey De Santa is Michael and Amanda's spoiled daughter, who spends much of her time seeking fame as a reality television star. She frequently appears on the in-game show 'Fame or Shame' and constantly begs her father for money to fund her lavish lifestyle and appearance. Tracey embodies the shallow, attention-seeking socialite of modern Los Santos, often posting on the in-game social media platform Lifeinvader and obsessing over her image. Despite her bratty exterior, she occasionally shows vulnerability and a need for genuine parental attention, particularly when she gets involved with the wrong crowd or when her life spirals due to her pursuit of instant fame.

Jimmy De Santa is Michael and Amanda's lazy, unemployed son, who spends his days playing video games, eating junk food, and pressuring his father for money. He harbors delusions of becoming a famous rapper under the stage name 'Sleepy' and is constantly freeloading off his parents' wealth. Jimmy represents the entitled millennial stereotype, living rent-free in his parents' mansion while contributing nothing to the household. His character provides much of the game's comedic relief, particularly through his interactions with the volatile Trevor Philips, whom he initially fears but later somewhat tolerates.

The De Santa family unit serves as one of the three playable protagonists' personal lives in GTA V, with the family's dysfunction driving much of the narrative. Michael's attempts to reconnect with his family, pay off their debts, and keep them safe from his criminal activities form a major throughline of the game.
