Doctor Strange

Before his transformation, Stephen Vincent Strange was a brilliant but insufferably arrogant neurosurgeon in New York City, whose name appeared on magazine covers and whose skills commanded enormous fees. A devastating car accident crushed his hands and ended his surgical career, leaving him desperate and searching the world for any cure. His journey led him to Kamar-Taj in Nepal, where he met the Ancient One and reluctantly began his training in the mystic arts.

Through years of grueling study under the Ancient One and later Karl Mordo, Strange mastered the invisible architecture of reality. He learned to harness dimensional energy, manipulate the time stone known as the Eye of Agamotto, and conjure the crimson Eldritch Mode and the intricate shields of his signature mandala pattern. When Kaecilius and Dormammu threatened Earth in 2016, Strange confronted the Dark Dimension itself and negotiated a bargain that saved the planet at the cost of binding Dormammu in an eternal time loop.

Following the death of the Ancient One, Strange assumed the mantle of Sorcerer Supreme and took stewardship of the New York Sanctum, with Karl Mordo initially at his side. His allegiance to cosmic law was tested when Mordo departed, disillusioned by what he perceived as the sorcerers' arrogance. Strange continued to defend the multiverse alongside Earth's Mightiest Heroes during the conflict with Thanos over the Infinity Stones.

Aided by fellow masters Wong and Karl Mordo, Strange has battled interdimensional threats, rogue sorcerers, and the Scarlet Witch's corruption of the Darkhold. He has traveled through the multiverse, confronted variants of himself, and faced the consequences of his own fractured timeline. Across the events of the Dark Dimension incursion, the battle against Wanda Maximoff on Mount Wundagore, and his entanglement with incursions threatening the very structure of the multiverse, Doctor Strange has remained Earth's foremost mystical defender.
